Baby-tastic. Or maybe baby-geddon, I’m not sure. Either way it sums up 2015 perfectly!
Over the last year or so we’ve seen Emma, Beth and Jemma have babies, and the departure of Zoe on maternity leave (good luck Zoe!) – I’m thinking of opening a creche. In total we now have twelve children who have parents working at Mansion Hill. When we started 10 years ago we had precisely zero, so the learning curve has been steep! Emma (having moved house to be closer to parents) will be leaving us to work for a practice closer to home, and Beth and Zoe will rejoin us sometime in 2016. We have been very lucky to find replacements in the form of the marvellous Emma Fisher, the superstar Dee Hirons, the admin guru Lorna Spencely and vet nurse extraordinaire Jodie Gray. Some of you will have met them already – I’ve been amazed how quickly they’ve settled in when the surgery has been so busy; I’m glad to say we’ve had lots of very positive comments from you about them too.
Over the last 12 months I have been on a mission to take Mansion Hill onwards and upwards during 2016. I certainly don’t want to grow any more – I think we’d lose the personal touch that’s so important – but there are things we can improve. During 2016 we will (planners willing) see an upgrade in our kennels, theatre and lab facilities, as well as the addition of a meeting room. We are committed to creating an environment of care, trust and commitment to the team; to this end one of our initiatives is quarterly paid away days where the team can indulge their love of animals elsewhere. Hopefully this will promote cross fertilization of ideas as well as remind everyone regularly exactly why we do this job: for the love of animals.
Communication in a team that is now mostly part time working mothers is critical. We want to ensure you get the service and continuity of care you deserve from us. We are therefore adding monthly evening meetings to our weekly team meeting, as well as introducing a new bespoke messaging tool for the team.
Coming soon will be cat only clinics for our more “spirited” or nervous feline friends, as well various other initiatives that have been suggested to us by you our clients. If there is anything else you’d like to see from us, just let us know in the comments below.
