Where to park the car: Thorpe Mandeville
Park at the small layby to the left of the church and by the public footpath. Climb the stile and carry straight on up the right hand edge of a field to a gate. Pass through the gate and bear slightly left. Walk through an old orchard to a stile, climb the stile and walk for another 200m through a crop field to a farm track.
Turn right onto the farm track and immediately cross a cattle grid. Follow the track until the path turns to the right of the farm buildings just before the first barn. Pass to the right of the barn and bear very slightly right down the hill to the far fence line. Pass through the gate and cross the disused railway line, passing through another gate on the far side. Continue along the bridle way for 1200m looking for an obvious path climbing the hill to the right. The right turning to this path is way marked but the marker is hidden on the opposite side of a tree. If you come to a junction where a sign indicates a path to the left or a bridle way stright on then you've gone about 70m too far.
Turn right into the field and immediately turn left for 10m. Follow the path to the right and immediately begin climbing. At the far left corner of the field pass through a gap and continue along the left hand edge of the next field. Drop down to a gate and pass though. Climb up the next field and pass under the disused railway through a tunnel. Continue up the hill for 300m looking for a path to the right. Turn right down this arrow straight path and follow it to the farm buildings.
Pass though the farm and cross the farm drive to a gate. Go through the gate and walk 10m from the right edge of the field down the hill to a stile. Cross the stile and walk through a small copse crossing a bridge over a stream.
Cross the next stile and follow the left edge of the field to a stile to the left hand edge of a gate. Climb the stile, pass through the gate and turn right onto the road. Walk up the hill back to your starting point.
